Rise Above runs from September 12 until November 7, 2017 and showcases visual art from regional artists with a rising above, "standing tall," perspectives, healing, or love theme. The featured artist is Obiora Embry, who is an author, writer, poet, Web developer, consultant, and photographer; along with Terry Joe Sledd, who is a book maker. The other artists include Lloyd Alvis Agee, Pat Banks, Ron Gosses, Jessica Holly, Elaine Hunter, Shirley Jeter, Sallie Lanham, John Leeds, Suzanne Leung, Mary Claire O'Neal, Kim Owens, Beth Thompson, and Ken Tunnell.

The artist reception was on Tuesday, September 12 from 5:30-7pm and featured music from local musicians Ken Tunnell and Ronnie King.
